As the rest of the Federal Government prepared for the Sequester, we had the day off as February 28 is a local holiday. We took the kids to a sculpture museum and garden located about an hour north of Taipei in the town of JinShan. The museum houses many of the works of the famous Taiwan sculptor JuMing
Ju Ming (朱銘) (1938-) is a
Taiwanese sculptor who attained fame in Taiwan and internationally the 1970s and 80s. Ju Ming was trained as a
woodcarver and developed his skill and applied it to a range of media, including
bronze, styrofoam, ceramics, concrete, and stainless steel. Some of his most internationally famous pieces are bronze sculptures of various tai chi poses and movements, very expressive and powerful.
